SEATTLE, WA, May 29, 2026 — GrassDx, a Seattle-based technology company, today announced the public launch of its free AI-powered lawn diagnosis platform at grassdx.com. The tool allows homeowners across the United States to upload up to four photos of their lawns, enter their ZIP code, and receive an instant diagnosis of lawn diseases, pest infestations, nutrient deficiencies, and other common problems — along with a personalized treatment plan tailored to their specific region, grass type, and current season.

The platform addresses a gap that has long frustrated American homeowners: professional-grade lawn diagnosis has historically required either a paid agronomist visit or expensive subscription services. GrassDx makes that level of analysis available for free, instantly, from any smartphone.

"Most lawn care advice online is generic," said a spokesperson for GrassDx. "It doesn't know whether you're in Houston in August with St. Augustine grass or in Seattle in May with fescue. Those are completely different problems with completely different treatments. GrassDx knows the difference — and that localization is what makes the diagnosis actually useful."

"We built GrassDx because the information homeowners need already exists — agronomists know exactly what brown patch fungus looks like in a Pacific Northwest climate versus a humid subtropical one. We just made that knowledge accessible to everyone, instantly, for free."

How GrassDx Works

Users visit grassdx.com on any device, upload one to four photos of their lawn following guided photo prompts, and enter their ZIP code. The platform's AI analyzes the photos in the context of the user's local climate zone, typical grass types for that region, current seasonal conditions, and common regional pests and diseases. The result is a diagnosis with a confidence rating and a tiered treatment plan presented in three options: a DIY approach with specific product recommendations, a subscription lawn care service matched to the user's region, and a professional service referral for severe or complex cases.

The platform currently identifies over 47 distinct lawn conditions including fungal diseases such as brown patch, dollar spot, and red thread; pest infestations including chinch bugs, grubs, and crane fly larvae; nutrient deficiencies; drought stress; and weed pressure from crabgrass, nutsedge, and other invasive species.

Localization as Competitive Advantage

Unlike general-purpose AI tools or static lawn care guides, GrassDx uses the homeowner's ZIP code to determine their USDA hardiness zone, typical grass species, current seasonal conditions, and the pest and disease cycles most active in their region at this time of year. A diagnosis generated for a lawn in Phoenix in June will reflect Bermudagrass heat stress and summer dormancy. The same photo submitted with a Seattle ZIP code will prompt analysis for cool-season grass diseases and Pacific Northwest moss pressure.

Business Model

GrassDx is free for homeowners with no account or payment required. The platform monetizes through affiliate relationships with lawn care product retailers, a subscription partner program for regional lawn care service providers, and advertising placements for relevant brands. Lawn care companies can claim exclusive referral rights for specific ZIP codes through GrassDx's partner program, receiving leads from homeowners in their service area who have already diagnosed their lawn problem and are ready to hire.

Availability

GrassDx is available now at grassdx.com. The platform works on any smartphone, tablet, or desktop browser with no app download required. The diagnosis tool is free and requires no account creation.
